The 10 most segregated urban areas in America: #10 - Los Angeles Metro

See those green patches? That’s my peeps. Got dozens of relatives in those areas. I’m sure a lot of liberals frown upon these maps as a sad sign of how racially segregated US cities remain, or even as a petty “my city’s better than your city!” game, but I look at them a little differently. From my perspective, any green area is good news, a haven where I can chill, and that’s a nice thing for a person of color in racist society. It’s not about being “insular” or “failing to assimilate”, it’s basic safety, security, and cultural access. And dark blue areas are probably for the most part areas to avoid. No big deal. The blue patches are on the retreat, and as I’ve written before, as long as my people are moving forward and those who dislike being around my people are moving backward, I’m okay with this.
